Michigan football recruiting has been relatively quiet over the past week or two, after a slew of commitments. That all appears to be ready to change, as Michigan gears up for its BBQ at the Big House recruiting event.

Typically, the BBQ at the Big House is more geared towards incoming junior recruits (2026 class). This year, however, due to Michigan's coaching changes and late start to the 2025 class, this years BBQ will feature tons of talent from the 2025 and 2026 classes.

One of the top recruits heading to the BBQ is five star Utah wide receiver Jerome Myles. Myles was formerly committed to Ole Miss, but decommitted from the Rebels and hasn't been the topic of any groundbreaking news since.

That's somewhat strange, since usually when a prospect of Myles caliber decommits from a school, a new commitment typically follows soon after. But it didn't, which could mean Myles is looking for something different than the typical SEC program. Enter Michigan football.

Wolverines are trending in the right direction for elite wideout

The Wolverines have a huge need at wide receiver. And while the Wolverines are the favorite for top 100 wideout Andrew Marsh, they'd absolutely love to land both Myles and Marsh. The two elite wide receivers will be in Ann Arbor next weekend, and the staff will have a shot to make a big move with Myles.

Home state Utah is currently viewed as the favorite for Myles, but the Utes now play in a Big 12 conference that is a tier below the rest of the Power 4 conferences. Michigan football offers a much better football program, and may even have the edge in NIL against the Utes.

Myles is expected to make official visits during the season, which means that the Wolverines could get him on campus twice over the next few months. He has already officially visited Texas A&M and Utah, and plans to officially visit Penn State and LSU. If Michigan can secure an official visit following the BBQ, they'll be in a great spot with Myles.

Ron Bellamy has turned up the heat this recruiting cycle and is giving the Wolverines a chance with the best of the best. While it's still going to be a battle to win recruitments like these, Michigan football is in a better position now than in the past. As next weekend comes and goes, be sure to keep an eye out for updates regarding Myles or any other top prospects. Go blue!
