Michigan football recruiting expert on Brady Hart: 'Best arm since J.J. McCarthy'
Michigan football fans are pumped about the commitment of top-100 quarterback Brady Hart and they should be.
Not only was Hart the third top-100 commitment in the past two months for new Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore -- after the Wolverines got just one in the past two recruiting classes combined -- but is also adding another elite quarterback to the mix.
Jadyn Davis had some stellar moments this spring but Michigan football also has a verbal commitment from 4-star quarterback Carter Smith, who is a dangerous dual-threat option.
But Hart brings his own unique talent. Like McCarthy, he also had offers from some big names, especially Ohio State, which offered Hart just one day before he committed to U-M.
Hart is 6-foot-4, 180 pounds and is ranked as the No. 92 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's also ranked as the seventh-best quarterback overall. However, he's one of the younger 2026 QBs and hasn't yet reached his full potential.
Hart could easily develop into a five-star prospect. He's drawn comparisons to J.J. McCarthy, the Michigan football legend, and here's what EJ Holland, a Michigan recruiting expert said about the potential of Hart:
“When you look at the film, you see a big, athletic pocket passer,” Holland said. “He’s 6-foot-5, 185 pounds. He’s really filling out his frame nicely. He can throw the deep ball. He has a lot of zip on his passes. This is the best arm talent that Michigan has landed since JJ McCarthy. When you look at Carter Smith, he has pure arm strength. But when I say arm talent, Brady Hart has the arm strength, the ball placement and the accuracy. He’s more polished in terms of being a pure passer. Now, Carter can do a lot more with his legs, but Brady is very athletic as well. I think they complement each other with Carter being a dynamic athlete and Brady being an advanced passer with some upside left, too.
"The Hart-Smith combination is really a dream combination.”
Michigan football is recruiting the quarterback position really well and we'll see what that means for the rest of the 2026 class which can now be built around Hart.
