Michigan football in contact with former Ohio State top-100 commitment
Michigan football has had plenty of success recruiting players from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, and the Wolverines are trying their hand with another elite prospect from the school in top-100 cornerback Blake Woodby.
Woodby is ranked 67th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's 5-foot-10, 175 pounds and until recently, he was committed to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes have a stellar cornerback class and it seems like Woodby felt it was getting too crowded so he re-opened his recruitment. Michigan football is among the teams interested in Woodby, but the elite defensive back will have no shortage of suitors.
Just a few days ago, we wrote that Michigan football should make a push for Woodby. Now, the Wolverines are doing just that. EJ Holland of The Wolverine reports that Michigan has been in contact with Woodby and that Lamar Morgan, the secondary coach, has been in contact with him on a daily basis.
Auburn and Florida just threw their hats in the ring with an offer. But this recruitment is essentially wide open right now. Auburn is the only other program that Woodby has visited this spring according to On3.com. Oregon and Georgia are also listed as "warm" according to 247 Sports.
Getting Woodby on campus will be the next step for Michigan football and others. The Wolverines offered Woodby, along with every other major program, before his commitment to Ohio State. But he hasn't been on campus and hasn't visited anywhere outside of Ohio State except the one trip to Auburn.
So things are wide open and it's good to see the Wolverines getting involved. They can use top-100 talents and can always use a dude with a chip on his shoulder going up against OSU.
