Jim Harbaugh elected to Michigan sports HOF; statue should be next
Jim Harbaugh, the legendary former Michigan football head coach was elected to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame according to Brad Galli.
Harbaugh is being elected as a coach and to be fair, he's probably the greatest head coach in Michigan football history, at least in the modern era of the sport.
Not only did Harbaugh lead Michigan football to the national championship last season, he led them to three straight wins over the Buckeyes and three straght Big Ten championships.
Harbaugh had a tremendous record
Harbaugh posted an 89-25 record in nine season as Michigan head coach. He led the Wolverines to eight bowl game appearances and three trips to the College Football Playoff.
There were some bowl game struggles along the way, but U-M won its last two under Harbaugh -- the Rose Bowl and College Football Playoff National Championship.
Harbaugh's last three years were incredible but he was a consistent winner throughout his tenure. Michigan football won at least eight games in eight of nine seasons. The only season Michigan failed to meet that mark was the COVID year.
There were a total of six double-digit win seasons and three seasons with at least 12 wins. Harbaugh took a Michigan football program that was struggling mightily under Brady Hoke and returned it to the pinnacle.
Frankly, Harbaugh should get a statue outside of Michigan Stadium. The man saved Michigan football and delivered a three-year run that fans of the program will never forget. He deserves that honor and one day, I hope he gets it.
