When it comes to Michigan football and four-star running back Marquise Davis, there are plenty of things that favor the Wolverines.

Maybe the No. 1 thing right now is running backs coach Tony Alford, who left Ohio State for Michigan football back in March.

That was a huge hire for Michigan football. Mike Hart was one of the best running back coaches in the country, but his recruiting wasn't as top-notch as it could have been. Hart did land Jordan Marshall though in the 2024 class and now, Alford has Michigan in a position to land another top running back from the State of Ohio.

Michigan football could land four-star RB soon

Davis isn't the top-ranked back in Ohio, but he's ranked 7th overall in the Buckeye State for 2025. He's also ranked 11th among running backs and 165th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

In recent weeks, Davis has starting trending with expert projections to Michigan football. There have been two crystal ball picks from 247 Sports. The Wolverines also have better than an 80-percent chance to land Davis, out of Cleveland, according to the On3.com prediction machine.

Davis has visited Michigan football multiple times since Alford was hired. He has also talked about how much the Wolverines run the ball, which has to be appealing to running backs.

While we don't know when Davis will commit, he updated his timeline in an interview with Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider, saying that a decision will be coming, "soon."

Soon is a relative term. Does that mean this month? Is there another visit before a commitment? Kentucky is a team to watch. Ohio State is still trying to get in the mix, but if soon means relatively soon as in the next few weeks, I feel very good about Michigan's chances.
