3 flips Michigan football should be worried about in the 2025 class
It's been a rough start to the 2024 Michigan football season. There's no debating that. But there is still time to turn it around and now that Sherrone Moore has made a change at quarterback, maybe Alex Orji will provide a much-needed spark for the offense.
In college football, on-field results matter for the present, as well as the future, because wins and losses definitely impact recruiting.
Michigan football has already had one top-100 recruit flip in the 2025 class (Nate Marshall to Auburn), which happened before the season, but others are being targeted. Here are three that the Wolverines can't afford to have flipped.
Andrew Olesh
One of those is a top-ranked offensive commitment for Michigan football in the 2025 class and that's four-star tight end Andrew Olesh. The Wolverines won his commitment over Alabama and Penn State.
Olesh is 6-foot-4, 215 pounds out of Pennslyvania, and is ranked 94th overall. Many expect Olesh to be able to contribute right away for Michigan football, especially if Colston Loveland leaves for the NFL but according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Olesh will be visiting Alabama this weekend.
Ivan Taylor
Holland didn't seem overly worried about the visit but it's never a good sign when commitments start visiting other programs and according to another report from On3, Michigan's top-ranked defensive commitment, Ivan Taylor, will also visit Alabama.
The Wolverines flipped Taylor from Notre Dame. He's another top-100 commitment and one that Michigan football can't afford to lose. He is ranked 56th overall in the 2025 class.
Jasper Parker
Another name to keep an eye on is Jasper Parker. The four-star running back commitment from Louisiana has always felt vastly underrated. LSU didn't show much interest in the recruiting process but you wondered if the Tigers would change their mind, as they did with Phillip Wright, a three-star wideout LSU flipped from Michigan.
Parker was a three-star recruit when he committed to Michigan football, ranked outside the top 500. Now, he's ranked No. 273 overall. He's got the look of a future starting running back and this is another commitment U-M has to keep at all costs, just like Olesh and Taylor.
