Michigan basketball is aiming to end a 37-year national championship drought, and if they do, the Fab Five will have a front-row seat.

At least they will be on Saturday night, as they will be commenting on the Michigan-Arizona game on TNT. Ahead of the tip-off, TBS had the Fab Five join them on the pre-game show, which turned into absolute magic, especially for Wolverine fans.

The Fab Five was asked by Adam Lefkoe about some of the ways that they influenced the game. Jalen Rose got around to talking about the black socks.

A reminber of how crazy the Fab Five's influence was

"There weren't even five black pairs of socks in the mall," Rose said.

The Michigan great said that he improvised by using dress socks over his tube socks to play basketball. That certainly turned heads. So did the baggy shorts.

Michigan rode five freshmen, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson to consecutive national title game appearances in 1992 and 1993.

Chris Webber left for the NBA after the 1993 season. Michigan made the Elite 8 the following season, before losing to the eventual national champion, Arkansas.

That was the end of the Fab Five. They didn't win a national championship or even a Big Ten conference championship, but their impact went well beyond the results.

It will be fun to see the Fab Five back together tonight. If Michigan wins and advances to another national championship game for the fifth time since the Wolverines' last title in 1989, maybe they will be back on Monday night.
