Michigan football doesn't need to do a ton of things during the spring transfer portal window, but the Wolverines could shore up a few spots.
One of those spots in punter. Tommy Doman is now punting for Florida after entering the transfer portal. Michigan football has experience landing key special teams players from the transfer portal.
The Wolverines did it with James Turner two years ago. He was essential in the win over Ohio State on the way to Michigan football winning the national championship. Dominic Zvada was added last spring and also played a key part in wins down the stretch over Ohio State and Alabama.
Michigan football special teams coach JB Brown said earlier this week that the Wolverines were looking to make some additions on special teams. Most assumed that meant looking for an upgrade at punter.
As it happens, one of those has entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, as former Washington and now former Nebraska punter Jack McCallister has entered the portal again.
Good punter in the portal. Played at Washington for four seasons and transferred to Nebraska this past winter.

McCallister spent four seasons punting for Washington. He was the starting punter for Washington the past three seasons. According to Huskers.com, "McCallister punted 110 times in his Washington career, averaging 42.0 yards per punt with 20 punts of 50 yards or longer and 33 punts down inside the opponent’s 20-yard line."
Last season, McCallister averaged 43 yards per punt, in addition to 15 inside the 10 yard line. He's got one season left to play
Hudson Hollenbeck is the only punter on the roster right now. He started against Alabama and punted six times for 277 yards. He also had two punts inside the 20.
One game is a small sample size. McCallister is more proven, and now that he's in the transfer portal, it feels like a perfect fit. We'll see if Michigan pursues.
