Michigan football has a few needs that it could address during the spring transfer portal window. Maybe the biggest need is an offensive tackle.
The Wolverines should be just fine on the right side, as Andrew Sprague started the bowl game against Alabama and seems to have locked down that starting job.
The question is the left tackle position. Evan Link played left tackle during the ReliaQuest Bowl, and held up fine, but struggled last season at right tackle.
There were some definite growing pains. He did improve and is a solid run blocker, which could make him a pretty decent offensive guard. Yet, the Wolverines need a starting left tackle. Andrew Babalola, the five-star freshman, could make a run at the job.
Yet another option just entered the transfer portal this week, and that's South Dakota offensive tackle Joe Cotton. The 6-foot-7, 315-pounder is ranked 113th overall in the transfer portal rankings from 247 Sports, which includes the winter and spring windows. He's also ranked as the No. 16 offensive tackle and is the best offensive lineman available, via those rankings.
A bunch of teams have already expressed interest including USC, Penn State, and Wisconsin, among many others. According to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Michigan football is one of them and there's mutual interest.
One of the nation's top transfer offensive tackles is officially in the portal and tells me he has a 'lot of interest' in Michigan.

Cotton told Holland that he, "has a lot of interest" in Michigan. It makes sense. The Wolverines have a need at left tackle. They are also expected to be aggressive in the portal. Beyond that, Michigan has done a great job of sending guys to the NFL.
Myles Hinton will be the latest NFL draft pick that is a former Michigan fooball O-lineman and Cotton could be the next the join the Wolverines O-line factory.
