Michigan's hopes for upset over Buckeyes take a hit with one line from Gus Johnson

With just one sentence, FOX college football commentator Gus Johnson shrunk the hopes of the Michigan Wolverines for upsetting the Ohio State Buckeyes.

With two weeks left until The Game, the Michigan Wolverines were eying yet another upset win over the Ohio State Buckeyes (even though OSU arguably has the best team it has seen yet).

However, with just one word during Michigan's game against Northwestern, FOX analyst Gus Johnson cut those hopes off at the knees.

Johnson shared an update on the Wolverines' star running back Justice Haynes, who recently underwent foot surgery, and it was far from the update that Michigan fans wanted to hear.

While there were a lot of people hopeful that Haynes could return to the depth chart before the end of the regular season (just in time for Michigan's matchup against Ohio State), Johnson shared that the running back was officially out for the rest of the year.

Without Justice Haynes, Michigan's upset hopes dwindle

Haynes leads the Wolverines in rushing yards and touchdowns, with 857 yards and 10 TDs on the ground. He also has 50 yards through the air, putting his total for the season above 900 yards.

Simply put, Haynes is a dynamite piece of the Michigan offense, earning three more total touchdowns than freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood has through the air, and he's the only QB with a touchdown so far.

Without Haynes suited up against the Buckeyes, the Wolverines are much less likely to be able to pull off the upset, but all hope isn't completely lost quite yet.

Michigan still has RB2 Jordan Marshall, who has 729 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground this year. The Wolverines can also utilize Underwood's legs, as the freshman QB has 272 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns so far.

Currently-ranked No. 18 Michigan and No. 1 Ohio State are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 29, and the game will be broadcast on FOX.
