Michigan basketball has another critical game on Sunday, this time against Illinois. The Wolverines need a win to keep pace with Michigan State, which plays Wisconsin right before.

Both games will be on CBS. Michigan basketball is tied with Michigan State for first place in the Big Ten at 14-3. The two teams will meet next weekend in the final game of the season.

If both teams win, there will be a winner-take-all game for the Big Ten regular season championship. Michigan has to beat Illinois and Maryland first, which is much easier said than done.

One thing that should help the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday is the return of Rubin Jones. The wing has missed the past three games with an injury, but according to Jon Rothstein, he will return against Illinois.

Jones has struggled with his shot this season, but he's a capable 3-point shooter. He's also one of the best defenders on the team, which will be needed against Illinois.

Michigan Wolverines even baseball series with Long Beach State

After dropping the first game of a three-game series to Long Beach State, Michigan baseball notched its fifth win of the season after 15 hits and 10 runs in a 10-6 win.

Cole Caruso and Jeter Ybarra each had three hits for the Michigan Wolverines in the win. Ybarra also added three RBI, Caruso had two. Cade Connolly got the win after a scoreless inning of relief. Will Rogers also earned his second save after 3.1 innings to close it out.

Game three will be played on Sunday at 1 PM PST.

Michigan softball adds two more wins

The Wolverines defeated Queen 10-1 in five innings on Saturday, then notched a 2-1 win over UNC-Wilmington to improve to 4-0 on the weekend.

The Michigan Wolverines pitching staff came up clutch on Sunday allowing just two runs over 12 innings pitched. Erin Hoehn got the win in the second game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out five in 4.2 innings pitched. Lauren Derkowski got the final seven outs to get her second save of the season, which included an escape from a bases loaded jam.

Lauren Putz came through at the plate with two doubles and five RBI against Queens. Indiana Langford drove home what proved to be the winning run in the second game on a sacrifice. The 12-6 Michigan softball team will play against UNC-Wilmington at 10 a.m.
