It's been a crazy run for the Michigan Wolverines in the 2026 recruiting class, and it continued on Friday as Michigan landed four-star wideout Travis Johnson.
Johnson might not be getting the same level of attention from Michigan football fans as five-star Calvin Russell, but Johnson is a big-time player. He's polished and gives U-M two wideouts in the top 150 overall.
Michigan has 13 blue-chip commitments out of 20 in its seventh-ranked class (via 247 Sports team rankings), and 10 are ranked in the top 200 of the 247 Sports composite rankings. Two more could join the class on Saturday.
Four-star defensive back Dorian Barney will announce a commitment (4:30 EST via 247 Sports). He's 6-foot-1, 180 pounds out of Carrollton, Georgia (No. 148 overall). Russell is announcing a commitment at 9 PM EST. Michigan football is the favorite, but it's too close to call.
Michigan basketball players stand out at FIBA World Cup
Two Michigan basketball players will be in action in the semifinals of the FIBA U-19 World Cup on Saturday at 2 PM EST on YouTube, and they will be on opposite sides of the court.
Team USA advanced with a 108-102 win over Canada on Friday. Morez Johnson finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in 24 minutes. Oscar Goodman, a redshirt freshman this upcoming season, scored 13 points in addition to 13 rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal for New Zealand.

13 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, a steal and a block.
New Zealand came from 10 down to beat Switzerland, 84-70, and will face USA and Morez Johnson Jr. in the semis tomorrow at 2 pm.
The 6-foot-9 forward is sometimes forgotten about, but he did spend the second half of last season redshirting, so he's familiar with the system and might be a dark-horse for playing time.
Syla Swords has been representing Canada in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup. She scored nine points and grabbed two boards in a 73-49 win over Columbia on Friday. Canada advanced to the semifinals.
Former Michigan Wolverines player inks NBA deal
Moe Wagner, a Michigan Wolverines legend, agreed to a new one-year deal worth $5 million with the Orlando Magic on Friday. That will keep him with the franchise where his brother, Franz, another former Michigan basketball player, has become a superstar.
Wagner only played 30 games last season but averaged 12.9 points. He shot 36 percent from 3-point range and a career-best 56.2 percent from the field. The 7-footer made 64.5 percent of his 2-point attempts and averaged 4.9 rebounds in 18.8 minutes.
Yet, that came before a season-ending ACL tear in December. Wagner had recently scored a career-high 32 points. Orlando declined his option, but saw enough to invest a $5 million in him.
