Michigan football legend Aidan Hutchinson suffered a horrific injury last season for the Detroit Lions, forcing him to miss most of the 2024 season and the playoffs.
It's been a long road for Hutchinson. There was hope that he could have returned for the Super Bowl if the Lions made it that far.
They didn't though. Recently, Hutchinson posted a video of himself running and doing other workouts. It was hard to know how close he was to 100 percent, but on Thursday, Hutch confirmed that he's been clear for football activities.
"I'm fully cleared," Hutchinson said.
Another 2026 commitment for Michigan Wolverines
Just two days after landing four-star tight end Matt Ludwig, the Wolverines landed another 2026 tight end with major upside, thanks to the commitment of Mason Bonner.
Bonner is a fast-rising prospect at 6-foot-6, 200 pounds. He's a three-star prospect but Tennessee, UCLA, Miami, and Penn State were some of the programs in the mix. After missing on Andrew Olesh in the 2025 class, Michigan football made certain it grabbed two talented pass catchers in 2026.
Ludwig is a more complete player, but Bonner is an interesting take, especially as a former wide receiver.
College Football Playoff seeding is fixed
If Michigan football makes it back to the College Football Playoff this season, at least the Wolverines won't need to worry about a wonky seeding system.
The College Football Playoff will adopt a "straight seeding" model, which means that the top four conference champions won't receive automatic byes anymore. Last season, that would have meant that Penn State and Oregon each got first-round byes.
It also means that Notre Dame is eligible to be a top-four team, but still isnt in a conference. Regardless of what you feel about the College Football Playoff, this was the right thing to do.
Finally.
Michigan Wolverines baseball season ends
Michigan baseball didn't have a way to advance to the Big Ten tournament semifinals on Thurdsay after an extra-innings loss in the first round, so there wasn't much to play for. However, the season officially came to an end for Michigan with a 7-5 loss at the hands of the Bruins Thursday in Omaha.
Benny Casillas had a double and home run in the loss for the Wolverines as he finished the season with a .401 batting average. Tate Carey allowed four runs and struck out six in six innings pitched.
Michigan baseball could have a chance at an at-large berth, but they dropped four of their last six Big Ten games in the regular season, before going 0-2 in the Big Ten tournament.
Michigan finished 33-23. The Wolverines aren't expected to get an at-large berth into the NCAA baseball tournament.
