Latest on elite in-state recruit in 2026 CJ Sadler
It was reported on Monday that Michigan football would be hosting five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell for a visit this spring. That's a huge positive for the Michigan Wolverines.
Another positive on the recruiting trail is that it sounds like Michigan football will get CJ Sadler, the top-ranked player in the state of Michigan in the 2026 class on campus for an official visit this summer according to Steve Wilftong of On3.com.
Sadler is 5-foot-10, 170 pounds out of Detroit Cass Tech. Michigan football has had success there in the past but landing Sadler is far from a sure thing. Oregon actually has an official visit locked in for April 5th. Colorado is another team that is standing out.
Michigan, Auburn, Tennessee and Ohio State are also in the mix for the dynamic athlete who is ranked as the No. 6 athlete in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as the 89th prospect overall.
The Michigan football program needs elite receiving talent and with a dynamic dude right in their backyard in the 2026 class, this is a recruitment the Wolverines need to win.
Michigan basketball falls at Maryland
Despite an incredible effort from true freshman Olivia Olson, who scored 26 points and grabbed five rebounds, the Michigan women's basketball team fell to 21st-ranked Maryland 85-77 on Monday night.
Michigan women's basketball is now 18-8 on the season. The Wolverines also got 19 points from Syla Swords and 13 from Jordan Hobbs, in addition to four assists from the senior. Michigan is currently 9-6 in the Big Ten and tied for seventh with Oregon.
Three conference games remain before the Big Ten tournament but in the latest bracketology projection from ESPN for the NCAA women's tournament, the Wolverines are comfortably in the field as a No. 6 seed.
That's thanks in part to road wins over Minnesota and Michigan State -- both teams that were ranked at the time. Michigan women's basketball is home against Penn State on Saturday, then will host Iowa next Wednesday before closing the season at Illinois on Sunday, March 2nd.
