It's officially rivalry week, and the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines are set to host the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes, and Sherrone Moore's squad is looking for its fifth win in a row against Ryan Day.
Despite Ohio State's dominance this season and its position atop the national rankings, with just five days until kickoff, the odds coming out of Vegas are leaning in Michigan's direction.
No, the Wolverines are projected to win, not yet at least. However, the projected point difference is gradually shrinking.
Could Michigan upset No. 1 Ohio State?
When the oddsmakers first released the line, it hovered at 12.5 points. Then, after a few injuries to the Michigan offense, it went up slightly to 13.5 points.
Now, as the game flies into focus, the line rests at 10.5 points, even though the Buckeyes have been outscoring their opponents by more than 30 points per game on average.
Simply put, while sites like ESPN still give Ohio State a massive advantage over Michigan on Saturday, the line is shockingly close for a game that involves the undefeated, No. 1 team in the country.
The best news? This game seems to be the one hump that Day can't get over, losing four games in a row to the Wolverines, even last year, when Ohio State went on to win the whole thing, clinching its first National Championship since he took over the program in 2019.
Last year was Moore's first season as the Wolverines' head coach, and while the season itself didn't go as perfectly as everyone hoped, the win over the Buckeyes was exactly what everyone needed to feel okay at the end of the year.
