Michigan stays extremely busy in transfer portal with sneaky-good pickup

For the second day in a row, Michigan football has added three transfer portal commitments.

Michigan's attention seems to have shifted some from player retention to player acquisition, and for the second straight day, the Wolverines have landed three transfer portal commitments.

On Sunday, Michigan football addressed some key needs on the offensive side of the ball, adding two wide receivers, JJ Buchanan and Jaime Ffrench, along with a former Colorado State quarterback, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, who will bring some much-needed experience behind Bryce Underwood.

Michigan football still had plenty of needs on defense to address, but the Wolverines got started on Monday with commitments from linebacker Max Alford and defensive back Chris Bracy from Memphis. That is, along with former Nebraska offensive lineman Houston Ka'aha'aina-Torres.

A starting-quality safety added

Bracy was an under-the-radar commitment. His visit wasn't reported, but the 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety should compete for a starting job after starting 11 games for Memphis last season. He had 97 tackles, nine pass deflections, one interception, and one forced fumble in 2025.

The Wolverines have been projected to land two more transfer portal commitments, who just happen to be brothers. Of these six players, not all of them are front-line players, but Michigan is building quality depth. Bracy has two years of eligibility. Ka'aha'aina-Torres has four years left to play. He's a solid developmental prospect, who can play guard and center.

Linebacker is still a need that looms on the roster, yet Aisea Moa, a former Michigan State linebacker who had 12 tackles last season, has been projected to land with Michigan, and his brother, top-60 2026 recruit, Salesi Moa, a WR or DB, is expected to join him.

Kyle Whittingham has hit the ground running and it's been impressive to watch.
