Retaining Bryce Underwood was the first job of new Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham.

The new Wolverines head man passed that test with flying colors. He met with Underwood right away, and locked him down.

Next was getting Underwood some weapons. Andrew Marsh, a freshman All-American at wide receiver, was a no-brainer. Bryce has a rapport with Marsh, and the Wolverines were able to come to terms with him for next season.

That was critical but Michigan football still needed to get more weapons for Underwood. This weekend, on Sunday to be specific, they did that. Earlier on Sunday, the Wolverines added former top-50 overall recruit Jaime Ffrench to the roster.

French only played in a few games for Texas last season. So the 6-foot-1 pass catcher will have four seasons left to play. Like Marsh, he can move all around, play inside and out. It was a really solid pickup in its own right, but then J.J. Buchanan simply adds to it.

The former Utah WR/TE committed to the Wolverines on Sunday night, too. He visited this weekend, and is another dynamic pass catcher. He's got more production with over 400 yards receiving as a freshman. More than half came in these last three games. He averaged 71 receiving yards during the last three games of the season and had at least one catch of 29 yards in each.

It's a major pickup. He's listed as a tight end but is more of a receiver. Now, Underwood has Marsh, Buchanan, Ffrench, Zach Marshall (TE), Channing Goodwin, and Hogan Hansen to build an offense around.

Frankly, in just a few days time, it feels like the wide receiver room went from a potential worry to scary good.
