Michigan’s no-brainer priority 5-star recruit just arrived in Ann Arbor

While some schools have seen their biggest recruiting weekends, Michigan's won't come till the end of the month, but that doesn't mean the Wolverines don't have priority targets to impress before then. After hosting three uncommitted recruits last weekend, Michigan is hosting two more this weekend, along with a flip candidate.

While every recruit is important to impress, there is one that Michigan desperately needs to make the best impression on to gain a commitment as soon as possible. Five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson just arrived in Ann Arbor Thursday night and is in store for a big weekend with the Wolverines. He has already received his welcome gifts, making sure to document the weekend.

Dobson is down to four schools, but this really feels like a two-team race for his commitment with Michigan and Texas A&M. Dobson took an official visit to College Station just last weekend, before that, an official visit to Auburn, and plans one final official visit to South Carolina next weekend.

No hard date has been set for his commitment, but it is expected to come sometime early in July after he has completed all of his visits.

5-star Joshua Dobson shares eye-opening Michigan video during his official visit

It seems the visit to Ann Arbor is going well so far, as Dobson has continued to share highlights from the trip. After posting the photo of his welcome gifts, Dobson, on Friday morning, shared a video of himself in the Big House. While a trip to the stadium is always a must on official visits, Dobson made sure to get a great view of the field he could potentially be playing on in 2027.

Dobson is a priority target for Michigan this weekend, even with two other recruits in town. While head coach Kyle Whittingham has built a fantastic recruiting class already, the new Michigan leader needs that marquee five-star recruit to be the diamond of the class. Dobson isn't the only choice for Michigan, but his play style would fit perfectly into Jay Hill's defense.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back out of Cornelius, North Carolina, is ranked as the No. 17 player nationally, and the No. 3 cornerback in the 2027 Class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Dobson would automatically become Michigan's highest-rated recruit if he were to give his commitment to the Wolverines.

Dobson's speed matches up well against other speedy receivers, but he can also transition well when a receiver makes a quick move on a route. He also has a great ability to get to the catch point, but he does need to bulk up a bit before hitting the field with some big receivers in the Big Ten.

There is a lot of upside to Dobson, and again, he would be a great addition to the 2027 class at Michigan. Now, Whittingham and Hill just need to seal the deal this weekend, even with another official visit on his books.
