While the 2027 recruiting cycle heats up with Michigan's biggest official visits weekends coming in June, head coach Kyle Whittingham is keeping his eyes firmly on the 2028 cycle as well. Looking ahead to the Class of 2028 is vital to building for the future, and Whittingham is already handing out offers.
Four-star cornerback Jordan Hicks is still early in his recruitment, but is already building his top list of schools, and Michigan just put itself in the running. Whittingham recently offered Hicks, and the 2028 recruit practically can't believe this is the life he is living.
"My reaction when I got the offer was like this has be a dream, and even throughout the workout I felt like it was a dream," Hicks told 247Sports.

Evidently, Hicks impressed at his workout with Michigan, as Whittingham and his staff quickly gave him an offer. Michigan must have made quite the impression as the Wolverines have quickly climbed into the 2028 recruit's top three schools along with Maryland and Syracuse. Hicks comes in ranked as the No. 402 recruit nationally and the No. 45 cornerback in the Class of 2028, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.
Kyle Whittingham is going big with 2028 offers ahead of first season with Michigan
Building for the future in the first season as a new head coach of a program can be tough, but with a track record like Kyle Whittingham's, it makes things a lot easier. Whittingham doesn't have much to prove, as his resume at Utah speaks for itself, and getting recruits in the building will honestly be easier for the new Wolverines coach with Michigan attached to his name.
Whittingham has done an excellent job building the Class of 2027, having the No. 10 Class nationally, according to Rivals, with 15 commits. Now, as the 2027 recruiting cycle will start to wind down, attention will turn to the Class of 2028, but Whittingham is already ahead of the game.
Michigan doesn't have a commitment in the Class of 2028 just yet, but Whittingham has been busy with offers, handing out a total of 129 so far. Hicks isn't even the only Jordan Hicks Michigan offered. Whittingham also handed an offer to another Jordan Hicks, who just so happens to be a cornerback, in the Class of 2028, too.
Whittingham isn't even waiting to get a stat on the Class of 2028, and don't be surprised to see some commitments start to come in.
