As of June 15, college football coaches were allowed to directly contact 2028 prospects, marking the unofficial start of the 2028 recruiting cycle. Some 2028 prospects have already made early commitments, but Michigan has yet to land one.

While not many 2028 prospects have made commitments, it is a little worrisome that it feels like not as much focus is being put on the 2028 class as it should be. Granted, while many programs have already held their biggest recruiting weekend, Michigan's is as close as ever as Victr Weekend is set for this upcoming weekend in Ann Arbor.

While all the attention will be on the incoming 2027 recruits and trying to land uncommitted prospects, head coach Kyle Whittingham has hosted a future potential 2028 recruits. One of which just so happened to be the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2028 class, Tyzon Swann.

Michigan left quite the impression on 2028 No. 1 DL Tyzon Swann

Whittingham has had a few 2028 prospects on campus this week, both the No. 1 running back and the No. 1 defensive lineman. Both Kevin Hartsfield and Tyzon Swann made trips to Ann Arbor this week, and the Wolveirnes made quite the impression, especially on Swann, who is already putting Michigan as a top contender.

"I think Michigan will definitely be a top contender in my recruitment," Swann told 247Sports Michigan reporter Brice Marich.

Not only did Swann get to meet with coaches, but a few Michigan players as well, like Carter Meadows, Tariq Boney, and Dominic Nichols. Getting to meet with both players and coaches gives the No. 1 DL prospect a bigger look into the culture of the program.

Michigan is going to have some stiff competition for Swann's commitment, as they aren't even the only Big Ten program after him. Penn State is another top team after Swann, along with Auburn, Florida, Maryland, and the Wolverines' greatest rival, Ohio State, as big contenders.

Savion Hiter will '100%' see the field at the start of the 2026 season

As the summer months drag on, each day brings us closer to the 2026 college football season and, for Michigan fans, closer to seeing Savion Hiter in a Michigan uniform. Fans got a small taste in the Michigan Spring Game, but not nearly enough, and now coaches are piping in on how Hiter is faring with the team.

Running backs coach Tony Alford reportedly said that Hiter will "100%" see the field this next season, and even Whittingham said he already looks like an NFL running back. That is some high praise for a high school recruit who has yet to face a college opponent.

Michigan fans should absolutely expect Hiter to have a major role in the 2026 season, especially with the offense taking a new turn this season. While offensive coordinator Jason Beck will bring more of an open look to offense, with a running back like Hiter, the run game has to be a priority.
