Michigan hasn't thrown in the towel on a 5-star QB, who is among multiple flip targets in 2028

Michigan football's 2027 recruiting class, the first one under head coach Kyle Whittingham, was a successful one.

However, it feels like the 2028 class could be off the charts. The Wolverines have some five-star recruits right in their own backyard.

Yet, one of them, five-star quarterback Donald Tabron, is already trending to Texas A&M. That could mean that if Michigan football wants to land a five-star quarterback in the 2028 class, it will have to go outside the state of Michigan.

Could 5-star flip be on the table for Michigan?

In fact, one target that fans need to know is Jayden Wade. Ranked 9th overall in the 2028 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback out of IMG Academy has been committed to Georgia since November.

It's more than likely that Wade will end up signing with the Bulldogs. Yet, the Wolverines have been making some headway in this recruitment. According to Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider, the Wolverines haven't given up.

Michigan needs to get Wade to Ann Arbor for a visit. It's hard to take the threat of a flip seriously until that happens. That would just be the start, too. Michigan football needs to get Wade on campus multiple times before a flip is going to happen. That's just the nature of how things work.

Georgia, Alabama, USC, and Texas are the only programs that have had Wade on campus for a visit, so that would be a sign that Michigan has a real shot. Stay tuned on that front, but in other 2028 recruiting news, Wade isn't the only flip target the Wolverines are targeting.

Four-star linebacker Cale Britt, who is ranked No. 320 overall in the 2028 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, was offered by the Wolverines in June, before abruptly committing to Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-3, 209-pound linebacker out of Orlando hasn't stopped communicating with the Wolverines since his pledge to the Badgers. Linebackers coach Alex Whittingham has been in contact with the four-star linebacker constantly over the summer, and it seems to be paying off, according to Marich.

"Coach is a cool guy. We have connected very well," Britt told Marich.

It feels Michigan has a legitimate shot to pull off this flip. If Britt had taken more time before commitment, the Wolverines might have been the choice anyway. Alex Whittingham still has to prove he can win contested recruitments like this, but Michigan shouldn't be counted out.
