Michigan football has put together a top-10 recruiting class, but the Wolverines still have work to do in the secondary.
The Wolverines have already landed two commitments in the secondary this month. Andre Clarke and Dorian Barney, two players ranked in the top 200 of the 247 Sports composite rankings,
The loss of Brody Jennings, the four-star cornerback still stings. However, Michigan could easily make up for that if it landed four-star Davon Benjamin, a player who reminds me a ton of Daxton Hill, the former five-star recruit and first-round pick.
Another player on the radar is four-star Baylor commitment Jordan Deck. He visited Michigan this summer but committed to Baylor in a bit of a surprise.
Things have changed, though. Since the House settlement, Michigan football has been as hot as just about any team in college football recruiting. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound safety ouf ot Frisco, Texas is ranked No. 339 overall, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Michigan "gaining momentum" with four-star safety
It feels like Michigan has been zeroing in on Deck as a possible flip. According to Aiden Sen of Rivals, Michigan is "gaining momentum."
There haven't been any predictions to flip yet, but it feels like some could be coming. Adding Deck would be the tall safety that the Wolverines fancy. That would free up Clarke to play cornerback or Nickel. Barney could play nickel, but could also be more of a traditional cornerback.
The same can be said for Benjamin. Adding Deck would shore up the safety position, and help shore up cornerback at the same time. It feels like it's only a matter of time if Michigan really is making Deck feel like a priority.
