Michigan football recruiting has been on a heater like we haven't seen in a long time, landing yet another blue-chip commitment on Tuesday from South Carolina EDGE Julian Walker, who is 6-foot-4, 255 pounds, and ranked 197th overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

It was the third commitment in three days for Michigan football. The Wolverines also landed five-star EDGE Carter Meadows on Sunday, followed by four-star defensive back Andre Clarke on Monday.

The Wolverines have surged into the top 10 of the 2026 team rankings, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings (9th). Michigan football has 19 commitments. 12 of them are blue-chip prospects.

Michigan has landed 13 commitments since June 9th, including five four-star recruits on the defensive line alone. However, the good news is far from over.

There is at least one commitment outstanding, according to Sherrone Moore eyeball emojis, plus more decisions are looming, so here's a look at who could be the next to commit.

Predicting the next commitment for Michigan football

Kenneth Goodwin, a four-star linebacker who had gotten some expert projections for Michigan, committed to SMU on Monday.

Four-star safety Donovan Webb, who is announcing his decision on Wednesday, has been projected to commit to Texas Tech over the Wolverines.

Yet, some fireworks should go off on July 4th for Michigan football. Four-star wideout Travis Johnson, who has been projected to the Wolverines, will announce his commitment. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is ranked No. 144 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

I believe that Moore's outstanding eyeball emoji is related to Johnson. Four-star offensive lineman John Turntine will also announce on July 4th. Felix Ojo will announce that day, too, but Michigan isn't a serious contender there anymore.

However, Turntine who is 6-3, 285 pounds and ranked 36th overall, is deciding among Michigan, Texas, Stanford, and Texas A&M. There are no crystal ball predictions at this time.

While July 4th should provide at least one commitment for Michigan football, two commitments could be coming on July 5th.

Calvin Russell, the five-star wideout, via 247 Sports, is set to announce his commitment. The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder is ranked 47th overall in the composite rankings. Russell could be play basketball for the Wolverines, too, which has been a major selling point, and a reason he was strongly considering Syracuse -- the chance to do both sports.

Miami and LSU were viewed as the biggest threats, but according to a 247 Sports report, Russell is down to Michigan football, Florida State, and Oregon. If that's true, expect a commitment to the Wolverines on July 5th.

Another top-200 recruit, Dorian Barney, will announce that day, too. Penn State has been viewed as a top threat for the cornerback from Georgia, who is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, and ranked No. 148 overall.

So if all goes according to plan, Michigan could add six top-200 commitments in one week, and two five-stars in Meadows (On3) and Russell (247).

We'll see if it works out that way, but I'd be stunned if Michigan didn't land at least two more pledges in its 2026 class this week.
