Just like that, Michigan football is recruiting against James Franklin again.
The former Penn State head coach was hired by Virginia Tech this week to be the Hokies head coach. That seems like a great move overall. You wonder, based on how the coaching carousel worked out if Penn State will have any regrets.
Regardless, Franklin is back on the radar as Michigan football is trending to flip one of the Hokies 2026 commitments a couple of weeks before Early National Signing Day during the first week of December.
Michigan football has been eyeing ACC O-line commitments
Michigan football has been looking to add a center prospect in the 2026 class. The Wolverines have been sniffing around a couple of ACC commitments, one pledged to Duke, and another to the Hokies.
Sean Stover is a four-star committed to Duke. He was one target. The other is Adrian Hamilton out of Washington. D.C. The 6-foot-2.5, 290-pound interior offensive lineman is ranked No. 657 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Hamilton would play center for Michigan football down the road, and he was offered personally by head coach Sherrone Moore, according to Brian Dohn of 247 Sports, who put in a crystal ball projection for Anderson to flip to the Wolverines on Thursday.
Dohn is a Northeast recruiting expert and with Hamilton, it's easy to read the tea leaves. He has a visited scheduled for "The Game." He doesn't have a visit scheduled to Virginia Tech. Franklin is trying to have the current commitments meet with him during the next home game, but according to Dohn, Hamilton isn't expected to visit.
That's pretty telling and it feels like only a matter of time before Hamilton becomes the next member of Michigan's 2026 recruiting class.
