It was clear after Saturday's loss to Ohio State that Michigan football has some serious work to do in order to catch the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes controlled "The Game" most of the way. If Michigan's running backs were healthy, it could have made a difference, but it was clear that the Wolverines need an influx of talent, something they continued to work on Tuesday with the commitment of three-star offensive lineman Adrian Hamilton.
The 6-foot-2.5, 290-pound offensive lineman is one of the few recruits that opposing programs have been able to pry away from James Franklin since he took over as Virginia Tech head coach. However, a visit for the Ohio State game this weekend sealed the deal.
Hamilton, out of Washington, D.C., is ranked No. 657 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Virginia, West Virginia, and Stanford were among the teams in the mix.
Some thoughts on Michigan's latest commitment
The Wolverines now have 27 commitents in the 2027 class. Michigan football is ranked 11th heading into Early National Signing Day.
Hamilton is the second flip in the past three days as the Wolverines flipped four-star cornerback Jamarion Vincent from Baylor earlier this week. Michigan also got an in-state commitment from Recarder Kitchen (No. 110 overall in 2027, No. 2 in the state of Michigan) on Sunday.
It also feels like they will hold onto the commitment of Julian Walker and get him signed. So despite the loss, the past few days have been positive, at least on the recruiting trail.
As far as Hamilton, regardless of the ranking, he's going to be a center. Jake Guarnera wasn't ranked that highly either, and he looks like a star in the making after his redshirt freshman season.
Hamilton is a solid prospect worth developing. He could be a starter eventually, but it might take a while for him to find the two-deep.
