Michigan fans calling for Sherrone Moore to be fired need to get a grip

The Michigan Wolverine fanbase isn't satisfied after losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes for the first time in six years, but they need to slow their roll.

Yes, it stings (to use Sherrone Moore's own words) to lose to the Ohio State Buckeyes, especially for the first time in six years. Sure, Michigan Wolverine fans have every right to be upset. However, the season was far from a complete loss, and everyone needs to take a deep breath.

Following the loss, Moore had a pretty lackluster postgame speech, rubbing a little salt in the wound of the Wolverines.

But, after years and years of pouring your heart into a program, and specifically The Game, wouldn't you have a tough time mustering any positive energy, too? Yet, despite Moore simply showing his humanness, fans brought out their pitchforks and started calling for his head.

For reference, Juwan Howard (who is a beloved member of the Fab Five) led the Michigan men's basketball team to an abysmal 87-72 overall record before getting fired. Moore is a far cry from that lack of success.

Sherrone Moore deserves a lot more patience

Moore has been at the helm for just two years, when you don't count the handful of games he coached while Jim Harbaugh was suspended. Over those two seasons, Moore has led the Wolverines to a 17-8 record, including a win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in last year's ReliaQuest Bowl.

The hate and skepticism that Moore is receiving from the Wolverines' fans is uncalled for, especially as Michigan is set to play in yet another postseason game and was honestly a win away from returning to the College Football Playoffs.

This year, the Wolverines went 9-3 in the regular season, and their losses were to powerhouse programs that were either in the top 25 when they played Michigan or have bounced in and out of the rankings throughout the season (obviously, Ohio State has been No. 1 for most of the year).

James Franklin had 11 and a half years with the Penn State Nittany Lions before they threw up their hands and decided he wasn't the right guy to be their head coach. Moore has had just two seasons.

Wolverine fans need to slow their roll, have a little patience, and allow Moore to turn Michigan into his program, getting out of the shadows of his predecessors.

While the bowl game that Michigan is going to play in this postseason isn't certain, Moore has a chance to earn his first 10-win season, and he's just two years into the gig. Almost every other program in the country would be beyond satisfied with that mark.

Everyone, let's take a beat or two and let Moore turn this team into his own, especially since he might win his second consecutive postseason game this year.
