Michigan escaped a wild one at Wrigley. The No. 18 Wolverines moved to 8-2 on Saturday with a 24-22 win over Northwestern on a walk-off field goal from All-American kicker Dominic Zvada. While the win keeps Michigan’s College Football Playoff hopes alive, there are plenty of Wolverines fans who are hoping for a new head coach after watching a fourth-quarter disaster.
After taking a 21-9 lead in the waning moments of the third quarter on a one-yard rush from running back Jordan Marshall, Michigan turned the ball over on three consecutive drives in the fourth quarter, allowing 14 unanswered points before freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood was able to drive the Wolverines into field goal range on the game’s final possession.
Despite holding a 12-point lead, Michigan continued to put the ball in the air, allowing Underwood to throw two interceptions and allowing Northwestern back into the game. While injuries at the running back position to Justice Haynes, who is out for the year, and Jordan Marshall, who went down on Saturday, Michigan fans were understandably furious with Moore and offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey.
My biggest beef with Sherrone Moore is that every game is far closer than it should be. This game is a perfect example. The offense has played well….and they have 7 points.

They never get the most out of anything.
Is Sherrone Moore the right coach for Michigan?
At the end of the day Michigan is an extremely poorly coached football team. I don’t know how anyone on this planet can refute that. It’s pathetic.

Michigan desperately needed a quarterback after last year’s abysmal offensive performance, so the program’s deep-pocketed boosters rallied together to poach Underwood, the nation’s top recruit, from LSU’s 2025 class. A move like that, with so much money involved, starts a clock on the player’s eligibility.
I think it’s fair to wonder if Sherrone Moore is the guy. Michigan never ever looks ready to play. Completely unprepared.

Michigan, realistically, has three years with Underwood before he inevitably heads to the NFL. So, every decision the program makes needs to be made with the goal of maximizing its investment in Underwood. Does Underwood have enough talent at wide receiver? Is he running the right offense? And does he have the right head coach to help him win a national championship?
There are more than a few Michigan fans who would say now.
Fire Sherrone Moore

Every Sherrone Moore game is the same

The problem that frustrated Michigan fans could be overlooking in their rush to fire Moore is that the coaching carousel is already quite crowded this offseason. Penn State, LSU, Florida, and Auburn are all looking for their next head coach, and Florida State could join the search soon. Meanwhile, top head coaches like Curt Cignetti, Mike Elko, and Matt Rhule have all locked in extensions to stay put at their current school.
Moving on from Moore is easy. Finding an upgrade in this coaching cycle wouldn’t be.
