Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson. Also known as the Fab Five.

In 1992, those five names cemented themselves in college basketball history as they became the first-ever team to make an appearance in the National Championship game with a starting lineup made entirely of true freshmen.

Then, they led the Michigan Wolverines back to the National Championship one season later. However, Webber, Rose, Howard, King, and Jackson never actually secured their highly sought-after ring.

Recently, there has been a campaign to hang a Fab Five banner from the rafters in the Wolverines' home arena. Current Michigan head coach Dusty May kept his answer on the matter short.

"It's going to happen," May said.

Fab Five may not have to wait any longer for their banner

Just like that, with the backing of the Wolverines' head coach, the five names who are already in the history books are going to be raised all the way to the rafters.

Of course, Howard just ended his stint as Michigan's head coach, and May took over the role ahead of the 2024-25 season. No matter what his success rate looked like as a coach, he and the rest of the Fab Five will always be a crucial part of two of the best seasons in Wolverine history.

From their on-court antics to their post-collegiate careers, the group continuously garnered national attention and has since had numerous documentaries made about it, including an ESPN Films documentary.

At the end of the 1992-93 season, the Wolverines had earned a 25-9 overall record, including their 20-point loss to the Duke Blue Devils in the National Championship. One year later, the Fab Five led the team to a 31-5 record, including their six-point loss to the UNC Tar Heels in the title game.

While there's no timeline as to when the Fab Five banner will be hung at the Crisler Center, the legendary squad can rest assured that their alma mater still supports them to this day.
