Michigan has battled a lot of teams in this recruiting cycle, and the Wolverines have won some and lost some. Recently, though, there seems to be one school that keeps rearing its ugly head during recruiting battles, and it's one that many wouldn't think would be that formidable an opponent.
It seems as of late, Texas A&M has been the biggest opponent for the Wolverines, first when it comes to five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, and now the Aggies are after blue-chip four-star wide receiver Damani Warren. The Las Vegas product is currently down to the Wolverines and the Aggies, as they are the only schools he currently has official visits scheduled with.

Another recruiting battle with the Aggies this cycle. https://t.co/mMONmDHEUl
Warren just recently took his trip to College Station this past weekend and will be in Ann Arbor for Victor Weekend, Michigan's biggest official visit weekend. The four-star wide receiver is ranked as the No. 51 pass-catcher in the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports Composite rankings, and as of right now, has no predictions on where he will land.
Damani Warren is still on the table, as is 5-star cornerback Joshua Dobson
While Michigan wasn't able to gain any commitments as of yet from its most recent recruiting weekend, when three uncommitted recruits came to Ann Arbor, the Wolverines still got a win. Five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson made his official visit to Texas A&M this past weekend, and some thought he wouldn't leave with a commitment to the Aggies.
Instead, Dobson left without a commitment and still has an official visit on the books with Michigan on June 12. While Dobson has had an official visit with Auburn and one coming up with South Carolina on June 19, after his visit to Ann Arbor, it feels like the Aggies are the biggest competition here.
Even with the competition with Texas A&M, Dobson loves all that Kyle Whittingham is about, and he also loves that he is a proven winner. After setting his official visit with the Wolverines, Dobson spoke with the Maize and Blue Review, sharing his thoughts about the Wolverines and what he loves about Michigan.
"I know he's going to win," Dobson said of Kyle Whittingham.
Dobson isn't wrong, as Whittingham has been in the head coaching game for a very long time and has won 66% of his games. With Utah, Whittgham won three conference titles, two in the Pac-12, and even helped the Utes achieve an undefeated season back in 2008. Whittingham has also been able to get many players to the NFL, and that was without highly-rated players like what Michigan typically gets.
Michigan has a chance to snub Texas A&M not just once, but twice if the Wolverines can land more Dobson and Warren. It will be a battle as the Aggies 2026 season was one that has helped lead players to College Station, but Whittingham is building something special in Ann Arbor, and recruits have shown they want to be a part of it.
