There's no other way to say it - this sucks for Michigan football and head man Sherrone Moore. On Saturday, the Wolverines were able to post a convincing win over Maryland to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive for this season. However, it hasn't come without a cost.
Michigan firing on all cylinders heading into Ohio State matchup
In the middle of the action, team captain Max Bredeson went down with what looked to be a serious injury. The fullback/tight end wasn't able to return to action and even worse, he was seen in the second half on the sidelines in a walking boot and using crutches. Because of this, it's looking like barring a major surprise, the veteran is potentially going to miss next week's massive showdown at home against the Buckeyes:
You wanted to see Michigan win and stay healthy more than anything in this game. Still positives everywhere, but Max Bredeson on crutches is a tough blow. He is them, personified.

Max Bredeson Injury Update: Michigan captain in a walking boot and on crutches
Again, this sucks for Michigan. Bredeson is not known as a superstar across the country, but bring up his name on campus in Ann Arbor and eyes are sure to light up. He's a grinder and has a blue-collar mentality that Moore and his coaches absolutely love.
Need someone to get their hands dirty? Sign Bredeson up. Whenever Michigan needs a key block to open up the running game, it seems like Bredeson is always there ready to deliver for the rest of the offense. He brings his hard hat to work and never disappoints.
It's his kind of passion and energy for the game that makes a big impact for a team. In the case of Michigan, people feed off of his energy on the field and it has made a difference for the Wolverines in 2025. It's a season this team is hoping results in a trip to the College Football Playoff.
In order for that to happen, Michigan is going to have to pull off a major stunner against No. 1 Ohio State next weekend. There's a tall mountain to climb and things are going to be made even more difficult for the Wolverines if Bredeson isn't good to go.
