Michigan commit Savion Hiter's national ranking takes hit with Ezavier Crowell update

Five-star running back Savion Hiter, who is committed to the Michigan Wolverines, was the No. 1 RB in the class of 2026, until now.

Don't worry, Savion Hiter is still coming to Ann Arbor to join the Michigan Wolverines, and he will still be one of the most promising young talents stepping onto the college football scene next season.

However, with a recent update from yet another five-star running back, Hiter's No. 1 status in the class of 2026 took a slight hit.

Ezavier Crowell, a running back from the class of 2027 who committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, announced he was reclassifying to 2026, joining the Tide a season earlier than expected. With the update, he became the No. 1 running back in the class, knocking Hiter down a peg.

This by no means is to say that Hiter is any less exciting than he was just a few days ago. However, there are bigger and better expectations around Crowell's collegiate career.

On the other side of things, this also means that there is more pressure on Crowell, and a little less pressure on Hiter as the pair of blue-chip running backs fly toward their true freshmen seasons.

Yes, you read Crowell's high school stats correctly. Over just three seasons of varsity football, the future Alabama running back amassed 6,333 rushing yards and 91 touchdowns on the ground. Not to mention his 508 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, and 19 passing yards.

However, Hiter's high school stats are just as impressive for an elite running back to have in his back pocket as he heads into college. During his high school season, he earned 6,566 yards and 94 touchdowns.

Simply put, Hiter is the future of the Michigan running back room, especially after he studies under current Wolverine great Jordan Marshall, not to mention fellow running back Bryson Kuzdzal also returning to Ann Arbor for another season.

The depth that Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham has at running back is undeniable and will pair perfectly with quarterback Bryce Underwood as he looks toward his sophomore season.
