Well, it seems like... for now... things are starting to grow a little quieter around the Michigan football program following a whole lot of drama. Head coach Sherrone Moore was fired and then detained by police, and just one day later, he was booked.
Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel was under fire for how long it took him to act or not, and the team that had seemingly just escaped its latest scandal was in the middle of one once again.
Now, Manuel and the Wolverines' program have to find Moore's replacement, and with everything else going on, they truly can't afford any missteps in the process.
Michigan can't wait to find Sherrone Moore's replacement
Just this year, another Big Ten football program had a newsworthy head coaching search after firing its former leader: the Penn State Nittany Lions.
When Penn State fired head coach James Franklin in the middle of October, it sat on its hands for months, not finding a new head coach until the beginning of December. In the meantime, programs like Florida, LSU, and many more also fired or lost their coaches and rapidly found replacements.
The Wolverines cannot wait as long as the Nittany Lions did to find a replacement for their head coach; it would only lead to further chaos in the program that is already barely keeping its head above water.
With rumors circulating that Manuel is next up on the chopping block, it could make the process take even longer, and Michigan already has a limited list of eligible and qualified candidates. However, on the other side, if Manuel fumbles the ball with the hiring process, it could lead to his removal as well.
Simply put, the Michigan Wolverines are once again in hot water, and the team really cannot afford to make any mistakes as it goes through the hiring process.
