And just like that, the Michigan football team is in need of a new head coach. On Wednesday, massive news dropped that Sherrone Moore has been fired with cause. The search for a new head coach will begin as soon as possible, with some names popping up as potential candidates.
3 coaches Michigan must call immediately after firing Sherrone Moore
There's already one that we have to imagine isn't going to sit well with a lot of Michigan fans: Brian Kelly. Wait, what? That's right, Kelly's name is already being mentioned as a potential candidate for the Wolverines, as he's free to look for a new job after he was fired by LSU. We can't say it louder - Michigan can't even think about touching him with a 10-foot pole:

Michigan can't even think about bringing in Brian Kelly for an interview
Maybe if this was a few years back and Kelly was at Notre Dame, we'd give this a thought. However, BK made the move to Baton Rouge to try and get LSU back to an elite level, but he just never lived up to the hype. Following the embarrassing home loss to Texas A&M this fall, his time running the show for the SEC side ended.
It was a move fans were calling for, with people in the stands quite literally starting 'fire Kelly' chants all over the stadium. They got their wish, with Kelly now out of a job and Lane Kiffin taking over. So, who will Michigan bring in to replace Moore?
That's up in the air. Kalen DeBoer is once again being brought up on social media too, but he recently shot down rumors that he wasn't happy in Tuscaloosa. He was thought to be a candidate for the Penn State job, but he made it clear he never had interest in that job. Matt Campbell has since been hired by the Nittany Lions.
With the Michigan job open, could DeBoer have a change of heart, especially if the Crimson Tide lose to Oklahoma in the first round of the CFP? We doubt it, but you never know. What we do know is that Michigan needs to act fast and make a home-run hire to replace Moore. Going with Kelly would be like striking out at all three pitches looking.
