With how strong things are going for Michigan and Kyle Whittingham with recruiting, does this mean some bad news could be on the way down the road for Alabama as a result? That's surely what the Wolverines are hoping for, as Whittingham has his eyes on 4-star tight end Colt Lumpris.

Michigan fans will hate what Julian Sayin had to say about Ohio State's win in Ann Arbor

Originally, the touted tight end was all scheduled to take his official visit to campus on June 5. Hold on there, though, as Brice Marich has revealed that Whittingham and Co. have decided to mix things up and bring him to town on June 5 instead. Why? Well, there's a good reason for that:

Michigan is going all-in to flip 4-star Alabama commit Colt Lumpris

That's right, Lumpris told Marich that he's now going to be Ann Arbor-bound for Victors Weekend, as it's looking to be a major recruiting event for the entire Michigan staff. For now, there are 19 total visitors locked in for that weekend per the Michigan 247Sports site.

That's truly remarkable. June 5 wouldn't have been a snoozefest, however, as there are still six visitors making their way to town. Still, Whittingham probably thinks with so much elite talent making their way over in mid-June, that maybe it will help make the difference for the Wolverines.

Is this something for Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide to worry about? Maybe, as it sure looks like Whittingham is pulling out all of the stops to get this done. That's of course not going to be easy, as DeBoer and Co. have made quite the impact on the New Jersey product.

Lumpris originally committed to Alabama on Dec. 9, choosing the Tide over a boatload of other offers - throughout his recruitment, 23 total scholarships have come in for the 6-6, 250-pounder. Despite that, Michigan knows nothing is going to be official between the two sides until the Early Signing Period gets here in early December.

That means that Whittingham has a little under seven months to get Lumpris to have a change of heart and he's clearly doing whatever is possible to work to get that done. For now, Michigan holds six commitments for its 2027 haul, with 4-star defensive lineman Jakari Lipsey being the latest playmaker to grab a seat at the UM table. Whittingham remains hopeful Lumpris will decide to join him, and his upcoming visit on June 19 could end up making the difference there.
