Jeremiah Smith ups the ante, says Ohio State won't lose to Michigan

Jeremiah Smith is the best player in college football and he says Ohio State won't lose to Michigan again.

Ohio State wide receiver has earned the right to say what he wants. He was dominant down the stretch as the Buckeyes won the national championship, but if there is one team he doesn't have bragging rights over, it's Michigan.

The Wolverines not only beat Ohio State, 13-10 in Columbus, but Michigan football also held Smith to five receptions for 35 yards. He did score a touchdown and also drew a pass interference penalty that set up a touchdown, but he couldn't be found on a milk carton in the second half as U-M pulled off the upset.

In an interview with the Athletic, Smith talked about how much he hated losing to Michigan football, and how he wasn't going to let it happen again, which would be a fifth straight win, as much as Ohio State fans don't want to accept the reality of it.

“I just hate them. Just something about them. For the next two years, I promise you, I will not lose to them. I can’t lose to them in the next two years," Smith said.

Ohio State needed someone to care about Michigan football rivalry

If anyone could carry the Buckeyes past Michigan, it would probably be Smith, who is the best player in college football. The dude should be in the NFL already.

However, Bryce Underwood could be that kind of player at quarterback. Michigan football might also have the best defense in college football, including some of the pieces that helped shut down Smith last season at the Shoe.

At the same time, Ohio State has had plenty of quarterbacks and receivers have big days in defeats to Michigan. CJ Stroud and Kyle McCord come to mind. Ohio State still has to stop Michigan, and the team that runs for more yards tends to win.

So we'll see if Smith and Ohio State are able to end the win streak by Michigan this November. But his comments add some juice to the rivalry, which has been downplayed by a lot of Ohio State people recently.
