If Michigan could land just 1 player from its upcoming official visit weekend, it's a no-brainer

Kyle Whittingham may not have a large group coming in this weekend for official visits, but this one recruit is a top priority.

Michigan is going against the grain of most college football programs and not holding its biggest official visit weekend now, but later in June. Head coach Kyle Whittingham will hold Michigan's biggest recruiting weekend, Victor Weekend, on June 19, where the Wolverines will host 21 prospects.

That doesn't mean Michigan just isn't putting in any work until then, but instead hosting smaller groups before Victor Weekend. The Wolverines will see six official visitors this weekend, three already verbally committed to Michigan, and three still making their decisions.

Of those three uncommitted prospects, four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman, four-star interior offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo, and three-star tight end Christian Hanshaw, there is one that the Wolverines desperately want to land. Now, this isn't the case, but if Michigan had to pick just one of those recruits that they would be able to land before leaving Ann Arbor, the answer is simple.

Kyle Whittingham has to put all his chips on landing 4-star defensive linman Seth Tillman

Whittingham has ties to Mageo from his days at Utah, and Hanshaw would be a solid tight end for the Wolverines, but it is Tillman that Michigan needs to have a laser focus on this upcoming weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 294-pound defensive lineman is looking at some big defensive programs for his college commitment. It makes sense that the South Carolina native would be looking at both South Carolina and Clemson with official visits set, but Georgia is also in the mix, a visit he has already completed.

Tillman will visit Ann Arbor this weekend and then head ot Clemson for his final visit, and hopefully the No. 123 nationally ranked recruit by 247Sports will make his commitment shortly after. Since his visit to Athens, the Bulldogs are in the driver's seat for Tillman's recruitment. However, with the young lineman currently on campus at Michigan, defensive coordinator Jay Hill could be making a big push to sway him.

Michigan so far only has one other defensive lineman committed in the Class of 2027, so being able to land Tillman feels like a must for Whittingham and his coaching staff. If Tillman were to commit, he would join four-star commit Xavier Muhammad as the other lineman in this class, and the two could quickly become a scary pair for opposing offensive lines.

Tillman's size is what has to intrigue the Wolveines the most, coming in at 300 pounds during his weigh-in at his Georgia visit. That is a good 20 to 30 pounds heavier than he was at the end of his junior season. Tillman's size can help him get leverage against the offensive line and create a path to the quarterback.

As we speak, Tillman is working with the Michigan coaching staff on campus, and while a trip to Clemson is still on the books, anything could happen, and a commitment could come at any moment with no solid date set.
