As Victors Weekend, the biggest recruiting weekend at Michigan of the year, wraps up, all eyes will be on the eight uncommitted recruits who visited Ann Arbor. Head coach Kyle Whittingham welcomed over 20 recruits this weekend, but many were already committed to Michigan or other schools. While there could be some flips, a lot of attention will go towards recruits not committed as of yet.

While the importance of getting those non-committed recruits is high, it was also important that Michigan make their own commits feel as welcome as they did the day of their commitments. For one legacy recruit, Charles Woodson Jr., this day felt like it was a long time coming.

As all recruits do during recruiting weekends, Woodson was able to put on the Michigan uniform for the first time, and Wolverines fans were even able to get a sneak peek from his Instagram stories. Seeing Woodson on the back of a Michigan uniform again has to have fans feeling reminiscent.

In the photos, Woodson was wearing No. 12, not his father's, Charles Woodson, No. 2, which is not retired in Ann Arbor. While numbers aren't determined yet for these 2027 recruits, it would feel fitting to see Woodson Jr. wearing his father's number, but No. 12 could also be his own while sharing a small part of it with his dad.

Charles Woodson Jr. joins a stacked Michgian 2027 recruiting class under Kyle Whittingham

With Victors Weekend also completely wrapped up, Whittingham now can add to his 2027 recruiting class even more, which currently has 17 commitments, just two shy of Michigan's 2026 recruiting class. With fewer commitments in June than in May, Michigan's ranking has fallen a bit to No. 23 in 247Sports Team rankings and No. 13 in Rivals Team rankings.

This doesn't mean this still isn't a strong class. Made up of a lot of three-star recruits, like Woodson Jr., as the Indiana Hoosiers proved the last two years, it doesn't always matter what your rating is coming out of high school. Whititngham has always had an eye for talent, especially at Utah, and now with the resources he has at Michigan, he has been able to bring in loads of talent to Ann Arbor.

There is still time for Whittingham to land five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who could be the top-ranked recruit in the 2027 class and recently set his commitment date for July 1, as well as four-star linebacker Frederrick Ford, who was a late addition to the Victors Weekend attendees list.

Woodson is just a building block in this first recruiting class for Whittingham, but an important one, with the legacy he brings to Ann Arbor. Woodson could have a very bright future at Michigan, just like his father, and he could do it coming to Ann Arbor as a three-star recruit.
