Is it almost commitment time for 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell? That appears to be the case, as the No. 1 ranked OT in the country is close to making a decision. Originally, the thought was that Cantwell would wait until after he took all of his official visits to close things down.
However, the 6-7, 300-pounder announced on social media on Thursday that he 'might be closer to the end' when it comes to his recruitment process. He originally revealed six finalists: Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Missouri.

5-star OT Jackson Cantwell appears close to shutting down his recruitment
Not long ago, Cantwell took unofficial visits to Michigan, Ohio State and Miami. It was pretty telling that he took those extra trips, but Oregon reportedly has been making an increased effort to land the youngster as well. Don't even think about forgetting Georgia and home-state Missouri too.
As for the Wolverines, Cantwell no question had a great time in Ann Arbor during his March trip, which included meeting quarterback Bryce Underwood. The standout QB flipped from LSU to the Wolverines, which was easily one of the biggest recruiting news stories of the past decade.
Underwood is hoping Cantwell will join him on campus in the future. Per the 247Sports Composite, Cantwell is also ranked the No. 1 prospect in the country for his class, the same honor Underwood had last cycle. Sherrone Moore and Co. would be able to send a massive statement by earning Cantwell's commitment.
It's of course not going to be easy, as his other finalists are doing whatever is possible to try and turn his head. Cantwell is scheduled to return to Michigan on June 13 for his official visit, but it's now up in air if he'll be taking all of his OVs or not. An announcement on his college of choice indeed feels like it could be sneaking up on us. Will Cantwell end up picking Michigan? Wolverines fans everywhere sure hope so.
