Bryce Underwood is the star quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, but that doesn't mean there isn't someone waiting in the wings to take over after his time in Ann Arbor comes to an end. Michigan fans got a glimpse of the guy waiting in the wings, Tommy Carr, and Underwood looked like his biggest fan.
For the first time this season, Michigan built a big enough lead, allowing head coach Kyle Whittingham to bring in the backups, which included Carr, who won the back QB battle in fall camp. Carr has a lot of history with the Maize and Blue, with his father and grandfather both big names for the Wolverines, and he got his first career touchdown pass on Saturday, bringing a smile to his teammates' faces.
Underwood was one of the first to greet Carr after the touchdown, hyping up the young quarterback and simply just being so excited, knowing what this means to Carr.

Say what you will about Underwood, but being a bad teammate is not in his nature. At times, it seems like Underwood doesn't care or doesn't take things seriously, but when it comes to his teammates, Underwood is the first one to stand up and cheer his guys on, making him a perfect captain.

Michigan has a tough schedule ahead of them in Big Ten play, so Underwood knows that there is a real possibility that Carr doesn't get to see the field much for the rest of the season. That is not to say that he definitely won't, but with some big matchups ahead, it could result in close games that the starters need to stay in for.
With that being said, Underwood felt like UTEP would be the perfect opportunity for Carr to get on the field and show what he is made of, and boy, was he right.
"I was excited, I was definitely excited because I knew this week would probably be the opportunity for him to put a touchdown in the end zone, and he did," Underwood said of Carr's touchdown.
Carr's touchdown pass was one of beauty, making the perfect throw to fellow freshman, Salesi Moa. Carr had to place the ball perfectly for Moa to make the catch and be able to keep a foot in bounds. Not only did the ball have perfect placement, but he kept it away from the defender to ensure there wouldn't be a turnover.
This was just a couple of drives against UTEP, but it was a great start ot Carr's career in the Maize and Blue, and has to get fans excited for the future in Ann Arbor.
