The No. 1 running back in the Class of 2026, Savion Hiter, has yet to announce his commitment to his college football career. Hiter, however, did announce his final four teams and when he would make his commitment. The four teams still battling it out for Hiter are Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Michigan, and there is one Michigan player who is pushing hard to get Hiter in the building.
Hiter announced that his commitment date will be August 19, which just so happens to be Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood's birthday, as he commented on the post. It seems Underwood is using the emotional route here to get Hiter to commit to the Wolverines over Tennessee, as they seem to be the top two programs in the mix.
While Georgia and Ohio State are also in the top schools, it seems like Michigan and Tennessee have separated themselves from the others. Underwood has been working hard to get the 5-star running back in a Michigan uniform in 2026, as the Wolverines could then have the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2025 and the No. 1 running back in the Class of 2026.

Hiter is a 5-star running back and, of course, the No. 1 player at his position in the Class of 2026, which is what has made him such a big commodity for teams trying to get his recruitment. With a running back like Hiter and a quarterback like Underwood, who almost certainly will be starting for Michigan next season, the Wolverines' offense could be one of the scariest in all of college football.
Michigan fans everywhere will be on the edge of their seat come August 19, which seems like a ways away, but Hiter wants to make sure he is making the best choice for himself and his furutre football career.
