If you're having a hard time keeping track of all the recruits Michigan football has been projected to land in the past week, you aren't alone.
But you can add four-star safety Donovan Webb's name to that list. The Frisco, Texas safety ranked No. 333 overall in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry rankings, was projected to commit to the Michigan football program by EJ Holland of The Wolverine on Thursday.
Webb is 6-foot, 160 pounds. He just visited Michigan earlier this month. LSU, Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Notre Dame were among the top contenders. However, Holland reported that Webb canceled his visit to Notre Dame.
Michigan football expected to land 2026 defensive back
It also doesn't seem like LSU is a contender at this point. Texas Tech and Kansas State each hosted him for an official visit, but Michigan football seemed to have a solid lead after his trip to Ann Arbor. Now that the Irish are out of the picture, Holland gives the edge to Michigan.
That gives Michigan a 90 percent chance to land the four-star safety, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Holland isn't the only recruiting expert who sees a commitment on the horizon.
Chad Simmons of On3.com also put in an expert projection for Webb to be a Michigan Wolverine. The blue-chip defender was described by 247 Sports as "ultra productive." The reason for that is consecutive 100-tackle seasons along with nine intercpetions during that time.
Webb ran the 100-meter dash in 11.01 seconds as a junior. That number could improve and it should. But even so, Webb is solid athlete with a nose for the ball.
The defensive back feels like a perfect fit for Michigan football. We'll see if that's where he ends up.
