A Michigan football commitment sounds like he has one foot out the door

It's never good when one of your commitments is visiting another school, which is where Michigan finds itself in the recruitment of Brody Jennings.

Jennings, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from Jacksonville, has been committed to the Michigan Wolverines since last July.

Yet, a number of programs have been sniffing around. Miami, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida will all get official visits, at least according to the schedule, along with Michigan.

The blue-chip defensive back is ranked No. 273 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings in the 2026 class. Just because recruits visit other programs, it doesn't mean a commitment will be flipped, but it's not a good sign.

Especially, when you read some of the quotes Jennings gave after the visit about Miami.

"I don’t know if any other school is topping this official visit," Jennings said to the Miami On3 site.

Recruits usually give glowing reviews after visits but Miami has done really well on the recruiting trail lately, even landing Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 class.

Miami has NIL money to throw around. Michigan football has been more cautious with its approach but that will be hard to maintain with guys like Jennings who has a number of recruiting powers after him from the SEC and beyond.

The Wolverines have been making inroads with other cornerbacks and have even targeted a 2026 Nebraska commitment, C.J. Bronaugh, as a potential addition to the 2026 class. Yet, all of those pieces would be better alongside Jennings, instead of having to replace him.

Things aren't over yet though and as long as Michigan can keep him committed through his visit, the Wolverines have a chance to keep him in the 2026 class.
