Michigan football signed five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in the 2025 class. That was a game-changing commitment and the Wolverines are after another.
Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class is also very interested in Michigan football. He's taken just one visit to Ann Arbor, but the 6-foot-7, 300-pounder who has Olympic aspirations as a thrower, is scheduled to take two more visits to Michigan, including an official visit.
Out of Nixa, Missouri, Cantwell is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's also the best offensive tackle in the class and would be a perfect addiiton to the Michigan football roster to protect Underwood.
The Wolverines landed the best offensive tackle recruit in its history in Andrew Babalola in 2025. Ty Haywood is another top-50 offensive lineman who could be a tackle or a guard. Michigan also signed highly-touted Andrew Sprague in the 2024 class, who started against Alabama in the bowl game.
U-M has done a great job recruiting the position but they will have plenty of competition for Cantwell. Oregon and Georgia are the perceived favorites. However, national experts have said that the Wolverines will be involved until the end.

Chad Simmons of On3 is reporting that Cantwell has scheduled five official visits including one to Michigan starting on June 13. Miami, Georgia, Oregon, and Missouri also have visits scheduled. Ohio State could get one too.
Thre's a long way to go but Michigan football is in a good spot and the official visit is another positive sign in the Wolverines quest to land the No. 1 recruit in 2026.
Priority tight end sets two visits
Michigan football has been trending as the favorite to land four-star tight end Matt Ludwig. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end from Montana is ranked No. 249 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Michigan had success with another tight end from the Rocky Mountain area -- Colston Loveland -- and it's hard not to get the same vibe from Ludwig. Sherrone Moore visited Ludwig in Montana, along with other assistant coaches. Texas Tech also sent their coaching staff.

The Red Raiders and their NIL money might be the biggest competition for Ludwig, who will visit Michigan football in March (unofficially) and June for an official visit. Ludwig just spent time at Georgia recently too, so keep an eye on the Bulldogs, but Michigan is the leader according to the On3 Prediction Machine with a 92.8 percent chance to land his commitment.
