Michigan football came close to landing a five-star wide receiver in the 2026 class. Maybe things will work out differently in 2027.
A new name to know on that front is Quentin Burrell, a five-star wide receiver out of the Chicago area. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver is on the radar of the Wolverines. He's ranked 29th overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He is also the top-ranked player in the state of Illinois, as well as the No. 5 wide receiver.
That's exactly the kind of player Michigan football fans have been dying for the Wolverines to get. Calvin Russell seemed poised to commit before Syracuse won him over. It's possible that the offenses had something to do with it, which is why getting Burrell on campus for a visit this fall will be huge.
5-star will visit Michigan football
The dynamic wideout will take an unofficial visit for the Wisconsin game, according to Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider, which is expected to be a stripe-out game. The atmosphere should be electric.
Michigan football was Burrell's first offer, so the Wolverines have that working in their favor. Notre Dame is a strong contender. The Fighting Irish have hosted him for three visits. Chicago is also part of their recruiting pipeline, although Michigan has made major inroads in Illinois.
Burrell took a visit to Ann Arbor back in the spring. The visit this fall could be even more important. It will show Burrell what Michigan looks like with Bryce Underwood playing quarterback. That, along with everything else, might be enough to get Michigan over the hump for the five-star wideout.
