Official visit season is ramping up for Michigan football and on Monday, one of the top targets on the Wolverines board shook up his visit schedule in a good way.

Four-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert, who is a 5-foot-10, 158-pound cornerback out of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is ranked No. 139 overall in the 2027 class, via the 247 Sports composite rankings, recently decommitted from Indiana.

It has been open season since then as Michigan. Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Alabama are some of the other teams pushing for his commitment.

The Wolverines offered back in March. Torbert committed to Indiana in January, but re-opened his recruitment two weeks ago after getting offered by Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Florida State, Oklahoma, Auburn, etc. The recruitment really blew up. The Ohio State offer was probably meaningful and recruiting against the Buckeyes in this race won't be easy.

4-star visit cornerback changes official visit schedule

Notre Dame was expected to get an official visit. But on Monday, Torbert posted on social media that he was going to take his official visit to Ann Arbor for Victors Weekend on June 19th instead. That's a great sign for the Wolverines.

Torbert plays quarterback and defensive back for high school team. He's described as an electrfying athlete, which his highlights certainly match. As a defender, he was credited with 40 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups.

That June 19th visit will be the first for Torbert to Michigan football, according to his Rival profile, which tracks visits. Ohio State hosted him for an unofficial visit this spring and is the other program that has an official visit scheduled for this month.

Indiana had one on the schedule back in April. But that wasn't enough to keep Torbert in the fold moving forward, so this feels like an old school, Michigan-Ohio State recruiting battle.

In recent years, the Wolverines have landed some players from Ohio, but not many that the Buckeyes have prioritized, too. Jordan Marshall is one that comes to mind.

Outside of that, the Buckeyes record has been pretty flawless. They missed on Rod Moore, but he was a player Ohio State never offered. That's not the case here. I suspect the Buckeyes offer is what shook up this recruitment in the first place.

That makes it feel like an uphill battle for the Wolverines. They are doing everything to put themselves in a good posiiton. Kyle Whittingham's staff has been excellent at closing, too.

With Torbert, that will be tested.
