Always be 'crootin'. It is part of what makes Kyle Whittingham such a transcendent head coach. He did incredible things on the recruiting trails for years leading the Utah Utes. Now that he has taken over at Michigan, he is about one thing above all else. Whittingham wants to make sure he can get a four-star quarterback recruit, or better, to come play for him as a part of the 2027 recruiting class.
Fortunately for him, four-star Dane Weber has announced that he will be visiting Michigan in a month.

Weber was one of two four-star quarterback recruits Whittingham offered after Peter Bourque de-committed from Michigan. The Wolverines offered Illinois commit Kamden Lopati right after Bourque de-committed. Weber got his offer only a day later. All three prospects are four-star quarterback recruits coming out of high school. Weber may have the best shot of any of them of committing here.
Let's discuss what Weber could be bringing to the table of he does end up signing with Michigan.
4-star QB Dane Weber will visit Michigan Wolverines on March 24
According to the 247Sports Composite, Weber is the No. 34 player from California, the No. 25 quarterback prospect in his class, and the No. 365 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. The Chaparral High School standout from Temecula has 25 official offers. Michigan looks to have stiff competition to get him with California, Cincinnati, Kansas, and UCLA all getting visits from him, too.
It should be noted that Weber will be visiting Michigan first on March 24. It will be followed by Cincinnati on April 3, then Kansas on April 10. A little while later, Weber will be visiting to the two schools of note for him in-state in Cal on May 29 and UCLA on June 19. Clearly, Weber wants to play Power Four football, either in his native California, or across the midwestern footprint of the country.
What should be noted is Michigan was the most recent of those five schools in question to give Weber a scholarship. He picked up his 25th on the same day as Michigan with an offer from Fresno State in-state out of the revamped Pac-12. While Michigan has the greatest tradition and gravitas of any of the programs really in on Weber, it always takes two to tango. Will he be committing to them?
The two competitors to really watch out for from a Michigan perspective might be Cal and UCLA. Not only are they in-state, but they have two new exciting head coaches taking over as well. Tosh Lupoi is calling the shots at his alma mater of Berkeley. Having Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele under center should give him great job security. New UCLA head coach Bob Chesney just took JMU to the playoff.
The best thing Michigan has going for it to potentially land Weber has to be getting him to visit first.
