In the modern era of college football, a commitment doesn't always mean a lot. With NIL deals luring players away, athletes flying in and out of the transfer portal, and the lack of National Letters of Intent, coaches have to rely more and more on trust than anything.
Because of all that, when four-star defensive lineman Alister Vallejo reaffirmed his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines, head coach Sherrone Moore undeniably breathed a sigh of relief.
Vallejo, who committed to the Wolverines in June over powerhouse programs such as Notre Dame, recently received offers from the Miami Hurricanes and the Colorado Buffaloes.
After the offers came in, Vallejo reportedly told the two teams no and promptly scheduled two more visits to Michigan for this fall.

Vallejo, who grew up just outside of Austin, TX, also received offers from a handful of his home-state teams, including the SMU Mustangs, who On3 and Rivals currently have the young defensive lineman leaning toward, even with the commitment and visits to Michigan.
He is ranked as the No. 25 defensive lineman in the class of 2026 and the No. 31 overall athlete out of the state of Texas.
When the four-star defensive lineman officially committed to the Wolverines in June, he kept his message to the world simple:
“Michigan felt like home,” Vallejo said. “I’m all in, Go Blue!"
Vallejo is part of Michigan's class of 2026 recruits which ranks 10th in the nation and fourth in the Big Ten, only trailing the USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, and Ohio State Buckeyes.
The upcoming class is highlighted by five-star running back Savion Hiter and five-star edge rusher Carter Meadows, as well as 11 other four-star prospects beyond Vallejo.
For the second year in a row, Moore has landed a top-10 recruiting class, with his class of 2025 ranking sixth in the country (featuring Michigan’s current starting quarterback Bryce Underwood).
