So far, the Michigan Wolverines and head coach Kyle Whittingham have landed 19 blue-chip prospects out of the transfer portal, while watching 31 former UMich players head out the door.
With the disparity of incoming and outgoing transfers, Whittingham could use a few more big-time commitments out of the portal.
Yes, even though the portal closed nearly two weeks ago, there are still a slew of elite talents available in the portal, and Whittingham should undoubtedly try to bring at least a few of them to Ann Arbor.
Perfect transfer portal targets to fill holes for Michigan Wolverines
Stars like quarterback Bryce Underwood, running back Jordan Marshall, and a handful of defensive standouts have decided to stay at Michigan for at least one season under Whittingham. However, there are still a few holes to fill following the transfer departures.
Here are three elite targets that Whittingham should try to land to fill those holes on the depth chart:
Michigan's defensive secondary lost quite a bit of depth to the transfer portal this offseason. Now, even with Whittingham's star cornerback Smith Snowden joining the Wolverines, the roster could use a little help.
Freshman cornerback Amari Wallace just spent a year with the Miami Hurricanes, who just played in the National Championship, and while he didn't see any in-game action, he is a three-star prospect in the portal.
Coming out of high school in 2025, he was a four-star prospect and was the No. 26 safety in the recruiting class. Landing him as a backup defensive player who could stick with the Wolverines for a few years would be a great addition for Whittingham.
Similar to the Wolverines, the Auburn Tigers also saw a massive outflow of talent following the separation from a head coach. That included a lot of freshman talent, namely offensive tackle Broderick Shull, who is a three-star prospect in the portal and was a four-star prospect coming out of high school.
At 6-foot-5 and 327 pounds, Shull is huge, and would (quite literally) be a massive addition to Michigan's depth chart, despite the fact that he lacks experience.
Tackle is the position that lacks the most depth on the Wolverines' O-Line, and a possible star like Shull could be exactly who Michigan needs.
Last but not least, Shull's former Auburn teammate Hollis Davidson III could fit in perfectly in Ann Arbor.
Davidson, who was also a true freshman in 2025, is a three-star tight end in the transfer portal. He was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and was the No. 12 tight end in the recruiting class. Simply put, he was expected to be a star.
Of course, he rode the bench for almost all of the 2025 season, but is still expected to be an elite tight end, which is yet another position that Michigan needs to add a little depth to.
