Michigan football is putting together one of the best recruiting classes it has ever had. At least that's the way things are trending, but there is still work to do.

A big decision is looming this week. A few actually. Four-star wideout Travis Johnson has a decision date set for July 4th. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder, ranked No. 144 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, is projected to commit to the Wolverines.

Dorian Barney, a four-star cornerback ranked No. 148, has also been trending to the Wolverines ahead of his decision date on July 5th. If Michigan football lands Johnson and Barney, it will have 11 players committed ranked in the top 200 of the 247 Sports composite rankings.

With players committed in that group at quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, offensive tackle, defensive tackle, EDGE, and defensive back, it's an elite haul already. However, if the Wolverines can land three more commitments -- from top-50 recruits -- this class would be on another level.

It would be damn-near perfect and here are three commitments for Michigan that would make it so.

Calvin Russell, WR

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound wide receiver has a decision set for July 5th on Saturday night. Four teams are still under consideration. Michigan is included, along with Syracuse, Florida State, and Oregon.

Among that group, Syracuse might be the biggest threat, because the Orange, like Michigan, are offering Russell the chance to play football and basketball.

However, Dusty May's recent offer seemed to move the needle in Michigan's direction. The Wolverines could and should be competing for national titles in both sports over the next few years, so it seems like a perfect landing spot.

Russell also talked about being the "playmaker" Bryce Underwood needs. Russell is 47th overall in the composite rankings, but 247 Sports has him ranked as a five-star. On3 does, too.

That's because he's a freakish athlete. Russell has incredible ball skills and would be the best receiver commitment for the Wolverines since Nico Collins.
