Michigan Football Recruiting: BBQ at the Big House Visitor News and Updates
Michigan football will be hosting its annual Barbeque at the Big House event next weekend.
With the July dead period nearing its conclusion, lots of talk about the BBQ at the Big House has begun. It’s the last real chance to get recruits on campus before the season starts, which can be tremendously influential since many recruits want to commit before their seasons begin.
Michigan football typically goes all out for this event, with tons of big names visiting for it every year. This year is no different. While the majority of uncommitted recruits will be for the 2025 class, there is going to be plenty of uncommitted talent for the Wolverines to wow.
The BBQ offers Michigan football one more chance at gaining significant momentum before the season starts. It’s one of the biggest recruiting events of the year, and all indications are that it’s going to be as big as ever this year. Let’s look at who will be there in the 2024 class.
4 Star S Zaquan Patterson
This will be the fifth visit in the past year for the top 100 player out of Florida. Patterson is the only currently confirmed uncommitted 2024 recruit scheduled to visit. It’s very important to note that this is an unofficial visit, meaning if Patterson holds off on committing, he will almost certainly visit Michigan football again.
Currently, it seems like Patterson is going to wait until after the season, in which case he would most likely visit for The Game. That would, in my opinion, play into Michigan’s favor. Especially if Michigan football is playing for a playoff spot and Miami has four + losses. That atmosphere is going to be crazy.
Miami appears to hold the lead, but this is a close race. If Patterson were to commit today, it would likely be Miami. Michigan has done a tremendous job, however, and remains a strong threat. This is a winnable recruitment.
Committed Visitors
Four-star commits Jordan Marshall, Brady Prieskorn, Jacob Oden, Jaden Smith, Luke Hamilton, and three-star Jake Guarnera are also scheduled to be in attendance.
All six appear to be very firm in their commitments to Michigan football, and it’ll be great for them to be around Patterson and some of the younger recruits.
Expect them to have a positive impact on the uncommitted visitors.
Something to watch out for
Any Aaron Scott news? Scott is set to make his commitment on July 30th, which is his father’s birthday as well as the date of the BBQ. This race is still too close to call. The safe pick is Ohio State, but it looks like a real 50-50.
If Aaron Scott is planning on committing to Michigan, I wouldn’t be surprised if he showed up unannounced to the BBQ. It would be a real boost to the BBQ if Michigan’s biggest target committed.
It’s unlikely, but it’s definitely something to watch for. Now, to the 2025 visitors.
